MANNEN-YU

MANNEN-YU

A Hidden Bathhouse in the city

To getaway from the struggle of the modern world

Mannen-yu is located at Shin-okubo, one of the busiest areas in Tokyo. I felt the site which connected with Okubo street had an attractive quality about it’s location. From when I found the fascination of this site, It didn’t take a long time to make design concept as “A Hidden Bathhouse in the city”. Well, It was said , in Feudal Japan, that there were some secret bathhouses called “A Hidden Bathhouse” to heal injured samurai. Mannen-yu is planning to incorporate that concept of a space which peacefulness and nostalgia to heal the body and soul those who desire a getaway from the struggle of the modern world and the battles of hectic lives. We who struggle with the city life get stressed everyday and every night. If we believe that we are samurai of present day, then it should be remember that Sento is highly required item in the city.
