HASUNUMA ONSEN
Design concept based on the reuse of painted tiles and local characteristics
Only a few people know it is worth preserving. The painted tiles on the bathroom wall are now a valuable Showa product. So, the painted tiles were reused in response to the owner’s request for them to be reused “as a memory of the original space.” The conceptual image was recalled from the painted tiles on the wall, as well as the location characteristics near the Shinagawa Station and Haneda Airport so as to be windows of the journey into Japan or Tokyo. And it was developed as the design concept” Sento with a Japan atmosphere ” Our aim was to create a space that could convey nostalgia for the scenery of Japan through a bathing experience for foreigners, for Japanese tourists, and even for neighbors. It means that the design incorporates our wish that all the guests would feel they had traveled to Japan by each situation.
